Would you like to go from BEFORE to AFTER?

Everything You Need to Know

What is the primary facial feature that makes you stand out from others? That allows you to be instantly recognized? Most people will answer that it's the eyes. So you might be surprised to learn that science has determined it's the brows that make the greatest impact. No wonder we've all tried every trick from pencils and gels to powders and extensions!

And then there are the trends. Thin and sharp one year to bold and bushy the next. When all anyone really needs is a beautifully shaped, natural, fuller brow. And I'm here to tell you that the latest treatment trend, microblading, is just that: a new semi-permanent technique using crisp, hair-like strokes for creating naturally beautiful eyebrows.

I know what you're thinking. Tattooed eyebrows? Yes, because microblading, unlike other methods, leaves brows looking natural, not scary. It probably sounds terrifying to some, as there's the stigma of grandma's bluish, overly arched eyebrows, but microblading is completely different.

It's extremely popular in other countries, yet many of my clients haven't yet heard of it or are just learning about it now. In the next year or so, I expect it's going to be all the rage as the one thing I do hear from clients is how "life-changing" having great eyebrows would be.

Life-changing? Not a word that would have come to my mind, and having asked people now I get it. There are women who won't leave the house if their eyebrows aren't drawn in. Or they'll avoid certain activities like a beach day or anything that might cause their brows to sweat or wipe off. After microblading, they can go to the pool or to a Bikram yoga class or whatever it is.

As for me, it's so exciting and rewarding to be able to create the perfect semi-permanent eyebrows for clients. It changes the way they feel about themselves.

Microblading is a form of tattooing.

Microblading is done with a hand-held tool—it looks like an X-ACTO knife made out of needles—that puts pigment into the skin, but doesn't go as deep as a normal tattoo would. I create hair-like strokes with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it's not as deep as the regular tattoo, it's still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin.

You need to prepare.

If you regularly drink alcohol, take aspirin or use retinol, you will need to stop one week before your treatment. You need to avoid blood thinners, aspirin, and alcohol because they cause your skin to thin, which makes your skin bleed a little more when microbladed.

It is relatively painless.

Some people might feel it more than others. Overall, it feels like little scratches. You will notice it, but it will not be unbearable. Also, your brows will be prepped in advance with a topical numbing cream to dull any discomfort.

It takes time.

It may surprise you that it takes a minimum of two hours for your first microblading treatment. The actual microblading is probably the shortest part of your appointment. I spend a lot of time measuring and getting to know what my clients want, what's realistic for their face and then drawing on them to make sure they're happy with the shape. The procedure usually requires two appointments,  the initial microblading and then, once the brows have healed, a touch-up appointment.

Results are immediate.

Brows will look slightly darker at first, but the color will fade 30 to 40 percent. Slight redness and mild swelling is normal. Some patients experience itching and increased redness during the first week, which Vaseline can alleviate. Overall, you should expect your brows to look great right away. You won't have to hide!

Aftercare is essential.

Freshly bladed brows must be protected from all sources of moisture—no sweaty workouts or washing your face with water. Aftercare ointments are provided so that you can protect the pigment and keep the cuts clean and bacteria-free. You will use an antibiotic ointment on your brows for the first 24 hours and then a Vaseline-like ointment for a week. During that week, also avoid picking at any scabs that might form, and do not use glycolic acids as products containing them can fade the pigments.

Results can last up to two years.

Depending on your skin and lifestyle, clients typically come back for touch-ups every six to twelve months as needed.

Brow artistry demands a special aesthetic and trained hands.

I did significant research before selecting the one eyebrow microblading method I felt offers the best results. Then I invested more than 150 hours in comprehensive hands-on and online training in that method. I gained considerable knowledge and experience evaluating face structure and brows. I learned to integrate art principles and facial anatomy with the esthetics of micro-stroking, the method of microblading I believe is the best one available. The proof is in the superior results this technique produces—natural looking eyebrows—the ones you were meant to have.

Microblading is an investment.

This service is $500, which includes a touch-up appointment in 4 weeks.

If you decide to look around, you may find lower-priced microblading services elsewhere. Those lower prices are often a sign that the services are being offered by inexperienced or poorly trained technicians. Microblading is a semi-permanent form of tattooing. If you want first-time results that are natural, beautiful and customized for your face, make an appointment with me now.
